Auditing

Audit firm in Dubai

An audit evaluates the internal controls that produce your financial statements and identifies where reporting risk actually sits. Done properly it is not a box-ticking exercise. It is the difference between finding a problem on your own terms and having a regulator, a bank or an incoming investor find it on theirs.

What’s included

Everything the engagement covers.

Scope is agreed in writing before we start, so there is nothing on this list that arrives later as an extra.

01

Internal control evaluation

We map how transactions are authorised, recorded and reconciled, then test whether the controls described actually operate.

02

Financial reporting risk assessment

Identification of the areas where misstatement is most likely, and the specific weaknesses that allow it.

03

Data collection and substantive testing

Sampling and verification against source documentation rather than against the ledger alone.

04

Regulatory compliance review

Confirmation that reporting meets the requirements of your licensing authority and free zone, where applicable.

05

Management letter

A written report of findings with specific, prioritised recommendations rather than generic observations.

In detail

Why audits matter more since corporate tax

Before corporate tax, many UAE businesses treated the annual audit as a licensing formality. That has changed. Your corporate tax computation starts from accounting profit, which means the quality of your financial statements now has a direct and measurable tax consequence.

Weak records no longer just create commercial risk. They create tax risk, and tax risk carries penalties.

What we look for first

Revenue recognition, related party transactions, cut-off around the year end, and the reconciliation between your VAT returns and your reported revenue. That last one is where inconsistencies surface most often, and it is exactly what a Federal Tax Authority review would examine.

Who this is for
  • Companies whose trade licence or free zone requires audited financial statements
  • Businesses preparing for a bank facility, investment round or sale
  • Groups wanting assurance over a subsidiary's reporting
  • Companies that have grown faster than their finance function
  • Owners who suspect their numbers are not telling them the truth

Common questions

Auditing questions, answered.

The questions clients ask us most often about this service.

Is an audit mandatory in the UAE?

It depends on your legal form and where you are licensed. Most free zones require audited financial statements to be submitted annually for licence renewal, and mainland companies are generally required to maintain audited accounts. We can confirm your specific position.

How long does an audit take?

For a small to mid-sized UAE business with reasonable records, typically two to four weeks from receiving complete documentation. Incomplete records extend it considerably, which is usually the real variable.

What documents do you need to start?

Trade licence, memorandum of association, prior year financial statements, the current year trial balance and general ledger, bank statements, and supporting documentation for significant transactions.

Can you audit accounts you also prepared?

Independence rules restrict providing both services to the same client in certain circumstances. We will tell you plainly at the outset if that applies to your situation rather than after engagement.

Three things come up again and again in reviews of our Dubai tax services: it was fast, it was handled, and someone answered.

They completed the entire process fast and with extraordinary efficiency. Everything was handled by them! I merely had to appear a couple of times to sign documents. The process was quick and painless because everything else was taken care of.
